Three Steps Before Applying For An Auto Loan

January 3, 2008

1- Get your credit report

If it has been over a year since you last saw your credit report, stop right here and go get one. You don’t want any surprises later.

2- Organize your financial information

Write down your rent or mortgage payments, credit card balances and payments, etc. This is a good time to clean house on your credit cards.

3- Prepare to compare

Do some research online and find sites that allow you to compare rates without providing personal information. You want to have this data without having to apply loans. Remember if you apply for a loan, that will show up as an inquiry on your credit report. Too many inquiries in a short period of time may raise a red flag.
